Today we are incredibly proud to announce that 30 America On Tech (AOT) alumni have received more than $120,000 in scholarships from the Meringoff Family Foundation, SparkYouth NYC, and the New York Community Trust. We are so grateful to these foundations for supporting our students as they continue to pursue degrees and careers in technology.
 Meringoff Family Foundation’s Valedictory Prize

The Meringoff Family Foundation invests primarily in NYC-based nonprofits that work to “level the playing field” for young New Yorkers. This year, the Meringoff Family Foundation awarded two AOT Alumni with a $1,000 scholarship through the Foundation’s Fifth-annual Meringoff Valedictory Prize (MVP) essay competition. Jessie Sarmiento and Journisha Dolphin are rising college freshmen who, in addition to their AOT alumni status, both served as 2019-2020 AOT Peer Mentors. Jessie and Journisha both submitted essays on how AOT has prepared them for life after high school and were 2 of 8 applicants to receive this scholarship.

Jessie will be attending John Jay College and Journisha will be attending The City College of New York this fall.

SparkYouth NYC Educational Supply Scholarship

SparkYouth NYC is a nonprofit organization supporting community-based programs that expand opportunities for the young people of New York City. The SparkYouth NYC Educational Supply Scholarship is designed to support rising college students in SparkYouth NYC’s member organization network. New York Community Trust Scholarship Program

The New York Community Trust Scholarship Program offers grantee organizations the opportunity to provide scholarships to participants beginning their undergraduate studies. The program includes The Trust’s Lands-Cabrera Scholarship for the study of applied physical science and technology. Scholarships support students pursuing degrees from vocational schools, community colleges, and four-year undergraduate programs. New York Community Trust Scholars represent each of the five boroughs, where they have demonstrated outstanding perseverance and levels of commitment to community service and academic studies.  We are excited to announce that 4 AOT alumni, listed below, are recipients of the New York Community Trust Scholarship.  These students will receive a scholarship of $5,000 per academic year, renewable for a total of up to 4 years, totaling $20,000 each.
