TECH360: INTRO TO AI

When checking the news, scrolling social media, or talking with your classmates and teachers, you may keep bumping into one trending topic: Artificial Intelligence. But what is AI exactly? How is AI disrupting the workforce and changing the world around us?

AI technology advances at a rapid pace, creating new opportunities and challenges along the way. You may feel curious, confused, or even overwhelmed trying to keep up with it all. This is where AOT's TECH360: Intro to AI program comes in! This program will help you develop knowledge, skills, and mindsets for understanding AI. By exploring how generative and predictive AI tools are made, you will uncover best practices for using these tools confidently and effectively. 

During the program, you’ll explore the following questions:

1. Where did AI come from and why is it trending now? 
2. What are the exciting possibilities and major concerns for AI technology?
3. How are generative and predictive AI models developed?
4. What concepts from data science and machine learning explain how AI works? 
5. How can you use AI tools effectively and ethically? 
6. What skills will set you up for success in the age of AI? 

Final Project:
The program will culminate in final group project where you'll get to put your knowledge and skills to the test by pitching an AI-powered tool to mock clients. The top-rated projects will be selected to present at Demo Day in front of a panel of judges.

TECH360 is an intensive bootcamp that meets Monday through Thursday from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM. While most sessions are virtual, there are 2 required in-person sessions. Please note that you will only participate in 1 cycle and will select your preference in the TECH360 application.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

​WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?
Rising high school juniors and seniors currently attending a New York City (all boroughs), Los Angeles County, Miami-Dade/ Broward County, or Atlanta high school are eligible to apply.  Graduating high school seniors (Class of '25) would not be eligible to participate in the program.

AOT prioritizes students who attend schools that meet our Economic Needs Index and who demonstrate financial need, limited career development or tech education access, and/or are a first-generation college student.

DO I HAVE TO LIVE IN NYC, LOS ANGELES, MIAMI, OR ATLANTA?
Yes. To be eligible to participate in the TECH360 program you must be a resident of NYC (all boroughs), Los Angeles County, Miami - Dade and/or Broward County, and/or Atlanta (Fulton or DeKalb counties).​
IS THE PROGRAM VIRTUAL?
It is hybrid! Check your city's application for specific dates for in-person sessions.
​WHEN WILL I FIND OUT IF I WAS ACCEPTED?
Application decisions will go out in early June! Students who are accepted must submit their confirmation form and parent consent packet to reserve their space in the program by mid-June.
DO I NEED TO HAVE PREVIOUS CODING OR TECHNOLOGY/AI EXPERIENCE?
Nope. No prior experience is required - just the desire to learn!
IS THERE A COST TO PARTICIPATE?
The TECH360 Summer Bootcamp is completely free! In fact, students who successfully complete the program will earn a $500 stipend.
DO I HAVE TO ATTEND ALL PROGRAM SESSIONS?
The TECH360 Bootcamp moves FAST! In order to be able to really learn the material, it is important that you are present for all sessions. Students who cannot commit to the full program should not apply. ​
WHAT KIND OF TECHNOLOGY DO I NEED TO PARTICIPATE?
In order to participate fully you'll need a laptop and/or desktop computer with audio/video capability and a stable internet connection!
