About the TECH360 Program

TECH360 is a 10-week training program for 10th and 11th graders enrolled in high school. Students enrolled in the program learn the fundamentals of web design and development from AOT instructors and software engineers working at technology companies. Courses take place within companies and are taught by tech professionals. 

Benefits of Participation

The TECH360 program has reached more than 500 students since 2016. There are many benefits to students participating in the TECH360 program. These benefits include: 
  • Priority eligibility into the AOT Tech Flex Leaders
  • An opportunity to enhance technology and digital skills 
  • An opportunity to connect with technology professionals 
  • A platform to build a website application for a small business
  • A chance to work with students from different high schools​​
  • Access to other opportunities in the AOT network of support 

What You Will Gain

TECH360 program participants get a crash course on web design and web development. Throughout the course of the program you can expect to learn:

Technical Skills: Starting with the basics of HTML and CSS, you will work your way up to build a fully functional website application for a small business client in peer groups.

Professional Skills: You gain public speaking skills and gain an understanding of how to present a technology product to a live audience of attendees.

Industry Alignment: You will gain an understanding of how the technology industry operates and gain a network of likeminded peers and technology professionals.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants for the Spring 2020 TECH360 cohort must be: 
  • In 10th or 11th grade in a NYC public or charter high school 
  • Interested in careers in computer science / technology 
  • Free for classes during these dates/times during the week:
    • Mondays in Manhattan from 3:45 p.m. - 6 p.m.
    • Tuesdays in Manhattan from 4:15 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. 
    • Wednesdays in Manhattan from 4:15 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
    • Thursdays in Manhattan from 3:45 p.m. - 6 p.m. ​
  • Note: AOT prioritizes candidates that:
    • Self-identify as African American / Black
    • Self-identify as Hispanic / Latinx
    • Self-identify as females and/or girls 
    • Self-identify as LGBTQIA+ ​

Selection Process

Students who are interested in participating in the TECH360 program should follow the steps outlined below: 
  1. Fill out an application form by Sunday, January 12, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. EST. The form is located here. 
  2. Your application will be reviewed by members of the AOT team and volunteers. 
  3. AOT will make a decision to invite selected students to the TECH360 program for Spring 2020 via email. 
  4. Selected students' parents / guardians will be required to submit a parent / guardian consent form for participation in the program.
  5. Students will be required to attend an orientation day prior to the start of the program in February.

Applications for the TECH360 program are now OPEN for the Spring 2020 kicking off in February 2020!  Applicants will be accepted on a rolling basis. Make sure to submit your application for consideration by Sunday, January 12, 2019 at 11:59 pm EST!
