America On Tech (AOT) is excited to announce that this summer it is partnering with Blackstone Charitable Foundation and Samvid Ventures to bring User Experience (UX) Design skills to 50 NYC high school students this summer.

AOT’s UX Design Bootcamp is a 6-week long immersive program in User Experience Design for students who have completed our technical coursework. Students will work in teams throughout the bootcamp to build a market-ready, clickable design prototype of a mobile app. They will also participate in professional development lessons and virtual career days throughout the program. The bootcamp consists of 3 virtual sessions and 1 career day per week, and culminates with a team competition. Prizes will be awarded for top performers in the team competition and students will receive a $750 stipend for their participation in this program. The entire 2021 UX Design Bootcamp will operate virtually.

COVID-19 has had a disproportionate effect on students and families in New York City. Particularly, the number of COVID-19 cases has been exponential in comparison to other communities and cities. Many students and their families have experienced high levels of economic stress due to reduced hours and lost wages. In the face of the challenges COVID-19 has posed to AOT youth and their continued tech skills advancement, AOT’s response was to not put a pause on its mission to decrease the racial wealth gap by creating pathways into degrees and/or careers in technology. Instead, AOT has been more than ever fueled by its passion to ensure underestimated students in the communities it represents have access to equitable pathways to engage in the tech and innovation sector.

“We are very excited to be working with Blackstone Charitable Foundation and Samvid Ventures to bring opportunities to students this summer. As founders of America On Tech (AOT), we are passionate about making sure that students have the opportunities to succeed in 21st century careers. UX design skills are in-demand and we know that this partnership is a vehicle to ensure racial and economic justice for NYC youth in the tech sector.” - Jessica Santana and Evin Robinson, America On Tech

“Our Blackstone Technology and Innovations team is committed to creating and expanding access to connectivity, tools and training in the tech industry for all New Yorkers, and we are proud to be partnering with America on Tech to help prepare the next generation of tech leaders. We are excited to share our skills and expertise with 50 NYC high school students through America On Tech’s UX Design Bootcamp this summer.”  - Garfield DeBarros, Vice President, Blackstone.
