America On Tech & FactSet Host VIRTUAL Career Days in NYC and LA!

​FactSet is a financial data and software company specializing in flexible, open data and software solutions.  America On Tech is proud to partner with FactSet and values their support of our programs in NYC as well as in Los Angeles. This October, we hosted TWO Virtual Career Days with FactSet for our students on both coasts.  During both events, students networked with technology professionals while learning what they can do to set themselves up for career success.

On October 13, 2020, our Tech Flex Leaders in NYC were joined by eight FactSet professionals for an engaging panel discussion and multiple rounds of speed networking.  The conversation focused on advice for students as they begin the steps they’ll need to take to secure their first paid technology internship this summer.  After the panel discussion, students were broken into small groups and sent to Zoom breakout rooms where they were joined by one of the panelists for a more intimate discussion and targeted feedback.

On October 20, 2020 over in Los Angeles, volunteers from FactSet joined Mr. Sanchez’ Web Development students from STEM Prep Schools for an afternoon of conversation. Six FactSet employees, including product developers and software engineers, participated in a panel discussion where they focused on their educational and career trajectories and goals.  The panelists encouraged students to take advantage of opportunities to explore their interests and pressed the importance of networking as they begin their professional journeys. As in NYC, the Career Day culminated with three rounds of Speed Networking in small groups.  An additional eight FactSet volunteers joined for this portion of the event.

Our mission at America On Tech is to prepare the next generation of technology leaders. Beyond our technical coursework, this means preparing students to succeed in the technology workforce by pressing the importance of a strong network of professionals and potential mentors. We are grateful for FactSet’s support in achieving this for our students and look forward to continuing our partnership.
