For nearly two decades, Janine Quijije has served the nonprofit sector while leading change toward greater equity, diversity and inclusion for underserved communities. Janine is a collaborative nonprofit leader and fundraising executive known for strategic thinking, cultivating relationships, and commitment to organizational and personal excellence. She carries a unique blend that integrates a relationships based fundraising approach with impactful storytelling and sustainable systems.
Janine has been invited to speak with nonprofit leaders to support them in thinking strategically in building sustainable fundraising plans. She has been featured in the Chronicles of Philanthropy and also served as a panelist in AFP’s, Fundraising Day New York, NYC’s biggest single day Fundraising Conference. Prior to joining AOT, Janine has served national and local nonprofits including: City Year, Communities in Schools, “I Have A Dream” Foundation, Children of Promise, Mouse, and Harlem RBI. Janine’s passion for the mission of AOT stems in part from her own experience as the Latina daughter of immigrants who navigated the public school system in New York City. That passion for equity in education extends to her personal life. Since 2017, she has served as a mentor for the Big Brothers, Big Sisters of NYC. In 2018 she founded a book club that unites women of color to foster a sense of sisterhood and belonging. She is also a member of Circles of Change, a philanthropy group for people of color to share resources and promote racial equity practices within the sector.
Janine holds a BA from Queens College, City University of New York and a Certificate in Business Excellence from Columbia Business School Executive Education.
