America On Tech is an award-winning, early pipeline technology talent accelerator on a mission to decrease the racial wealth gap by creating pathways for underestimated students to thrive in technology and innovation. To date, we have worked with 3,500+ students by leveraging the time, talent and expertise of software engineers and developers to teach our tuition-free courses and help provide work-based internship and learning programs to promote the advancement of underrepresented students into technology. Founded in 2014, AOT’s work has been featured in Forbes, CNN, The Huffington Post, TechCrunch, BET and other leading publications. AOT has also been awarded by Forbes 30 Under 30, Wells Fargo, etc.
Who We Are Looking For:
The Human Resources Director will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. The Human Resources Director will report to the President of AOT. Successful candidates are solutions-oriented, data-loving, entrepreneurial and passionate about education. The ideal candidate is able to work independently and collaboratively and drive deliverables from start to finish.

Responsibilities Include:
Talent Acquisition and Retention Responsibilities: (60% of time)
- Oversee the recruiting process for full time and seasonal workforce, develop job descriptions, conduct candidate outreach, interviews, and onboarding
- Oversee performance management systems and annual performance reviews
- Oversee the identification of professional development opportunities for teams and member(s)
- Provides support and guidance to management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, disciplinary actions and terminations
Operations and Culture: (40%)
- Collaborate with other AOT Managers on People & Culture initiatives
- Collaborate with leadership, and Finance team on cost saving and human capital investments
- Oversee strategy to enhance AOT’s hybrid work culture (virtually and in-person)
- Oversee Employee Handbook and Policy Manuals
- Oversee compliance with federal, state, and city regulations as it relates to human resources
- Oversee learning and development initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees
- Assist with additional duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- A minimum of three years of human resource management experience preferred.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, and/or applicable credentials highly desired.
Must Have:
- Bachelor’s Degree; Comparable experience will also be considered
- 4+ years management experience working in human resources and/or operations management
- Ability to work well in a startup environment
- Project Management Experience

- Strong communication skills--written, oral and presentation
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
